How much of a difference is .26ghz?

I am wondering whether I should buy a macbook pro 2.4ghz or a macbook pro 2.66ghz. According to my calculations, everything should take approximately 10% more time on the worse processor. My questions: is that about right? and does that 10% (or whatever % it is) apply to *everything*, or just the resource-intensive applications? In other words, will that increase in processing speed make a 10% difference on all of: my facebook profile, downloading files from the internet, watching/buffering youtube videos, playing runescape, playing battlefield 2 on a parallels copy of windows 7, and running logic express? NOTE: I am assuming EVERYTHING ELSE to remain constant. the processing speed is the ONLY difference.

Yeah, it's about a 10-11% difference in clock speed.

In most casual tasks (youtube, downloading files, web browsing), you will only experience an extremely minimal differentiation between the two processors. Think of it like two runners running a 10 foot race. Even if one runner is 10% faster than the other, because the distance is so short, the difference is minimal.

In logic express, runescape, and Battlefield 2, you may see a decent improvement in the 2.66. This time, the race is a mile. Over the mile time span, the 10% makes a bigger difference.

So it all comes down if you want to pay extra for a small to medium increase in intense tasks. Good Luck!
