Why is my Sylvania HDTV w/dvd player showing a blurry picture?
I just bought my first HDTV flat screen tv. It has a built in dvd player. The dvd's shows just like I thought an HDTV would show. But that is it. When watching regular tv, I am getting a blurry picture. I am new to the flat screens. Do I need anything else to make the picture clearer. Oh, I have regular directv, no high def.
What is calibrated and how much does it cost?
It's most likely your SD signal input that is the problem. Get HD service, be it OTA, cable, or satellite and you'll see a world of difference. When you play a DVD, your set (unknown make and model - lol) is up-converting 420p to 720p/1080i, unlike your "regular tv" SD signal. You give so little info it's hard to make solid guesstimates, but it could also be a problem with your cables! Are you using composite, component, or HDMI?
You problem is NOT adjustment, as suggested by the previous answer. However, "adjustment" may give you a better picture. Try this simple site for settings: http://www.flat-screen-tv-guide.com/how-to.html
