i cannot raise the resolution on my monitor higher then 1280x1024 on a 32'' widescreen television, plese help!

well i have a hdtv 32'' 1080i t.v. and i have the dvi cable in the t.v. but it cant go higher then 1280 x 1024 resolution. i was thinking maybe u have to use 2 dvi cables but in the back of the t.v. there is only 1 slot, the only empty slot looking kind of the same is the vga slot? what do i do?

According to Wikipedia a resolution of a 1080i (or 1080p) is 1920*1080. However depending on your brand and model number of your TV then it's possible that the maximum input in the format 5:4 (1024 x 1280) since it,s impossible to show more than 1080 pixel high. Not sure if i'm clear (french is my mother language)

Your screen can't display more than 1080 pixel vertically so the DVI input must be limited to that resolution (1024 < 1080).

Depending on your graphic cards they are some programs that allows you to "force" the output resolution of the video card. Carefully read the user manual of your TV before trying that

You don't need a new video card and you don't need a new HDMI cable. I'm pretty sure that you don't need a new video card because you have DVI plugs so your card should be close to new (less than 3 years at least)
