What would cause shadow-like appearance on ceiling?
In my basement, there is about a 35 inch by 35 inch spot on the wood plank-like ceiling that appears to look like shadow when the light hits it. It is not wet, just a grey color. Above this upstairs, I think is the under the kitchen sink cabinet, There is a slight mildew smell in there that my wife has cleaned. She used Murphy's Wood oil on it and it still appears somewhat wet, monthes later. Could chemicals burn a shadow in the same shape as the cabinet?
It is very possible that the chemicals that are stored under the sink may have leaked.
Tell her to take everything out, wipe it out well, let it dry out over night, and then place like a tub mat, or a dish pan rubber mat on the floor of the cabinet and then place your chemicals back.
As far as the ceiling, you'll probably have to use Kiltz and repaint.
