Portable ATSC Tuner TV with no Comcast box?
I recently purchased an Accurian 7" Portable LCD.
The TV comes with rabbit ears but the reception was very bad.
For the heck of it, I connected my Comcast cable coaxial line directly into the TV and I was amazed to find out that I was receiving every channel, even HD channels. I always thought you needed a Comcast HD box to be able to receive HD broadcasts, I was surprised it even picked up anything without a Comcast box at all connected to it. How is this possible?
your tv has both an ATSC (over the air HD) tuner and a QAM (cable HD) tuner. Comcast is not encrypting their QAM signal, so your tv can decode it. Lucky You!
